N2, Chinatown

HELLO EVERYBODY! I'm back! I apologise for being so MIA recently, 24 hours in a day is clearly just not enough. Anywhooo so recently there was a new dessert craze that appeared in Chinatown. Yes that's right its N2. Call me slow or maybe but it took me a little while to work out that it stood for Nitrogen lol. Nitrogen Ice cream/sorbet is IN right now peeps.

Professors at work with their N2 formulating their ice cream
Basically the speciality is that they make the ice cream or sorbet on the spot for you. Normally ice cream takes a while to make because you need to churn it an ice cream maker for quite a while. Instead here they've used the N2 to freeze the ice cream besides the novelty of using N2, you get freshly made ice cream/sorbet.

Working that N2
N2 Ice cream
Front: raspberry cheesecake ice cream
Middle sides: early grey ice cream
Back: Mango sorbet
N2 had a food handful of interesting flavours, they even had cigar smoked hainese coffee and butter popcorn! The cheesecake was packed full of raspberries which gave me a huge smack of flavour. The early grey infused wasn't as strong as I had expected. The mango sorbet was good too but I didn't find it anything that special compared to normal mango sorbet.

The ice creams in general were good but we found that the ice cream melted fairly quickly. This may be an issue during the summer too. Welps. Besides the novelty and their interesting flavours, I didn't find their ice cream that exciting or different compared to most other ice cream parlors. Still good ice cream nonetheless but I am not sure if I am prepared to wait 30 minutes for it.

The insane crowds at N2
Oh hai professor!

  1. hmmm... I have to admit that I am not a fan. I don't like the after taste. And to wait 30mins? Most likely not. But then for the novelty, why not just try it once right?

  3. I like the concept but 30mins is a little long to wait for an ice-cream. Love the last photo!

  5. I didn't have to wait 30 minutes. It really depends what time you go. If you go during peak hour - well, what do you expect?

  6. Great shots :) yeah I would've preferred if the earl grey was stronger but a lot of my other friends thought it was perfect

  8. Wow, 30 minutes!! I didn't have to wait at all when I went.

I like the concept and flavours, but I thought the ice cream had a strange texture.

  9. Too bad the mango sorbet wasn't that special... I'll still try it, though.

  13. Looks like fun! But can't help but think it should be Heston Blumenthal doing this and not N2
